Our Story
To Ethiopian Jews, Jerusalem has always been more than a city—it’s been a dream.
For David’s, that dream came true when he immigrated to Israel as a child during the Gulf War. But it wasn’t long before the dream collided with reality: poverty, racism, identity crisis, and spiritual confusion.
His family, like many others, wrestled with the shock of Israeli culture. Fathers lost their roles. Youth lost their way. The pressures of survival began to silence the songs of faith.
But God did not stay silent.

When David’s mother gave her life to Yeshua, everything changed. Her faith sparked something in the family. Years later, David himself encountered Yeshua in a dream—personal, undeniable, and life-altering.
That dream became a calling.
From a small Jerusalem living room, a quiet move of God began to stir.

From House to Home
It started with a few voices.
Young people who didn’t connect with Amharic churches. Israelis who didn’t speak the language of their parents.
They needed worship in Hebrew. Discipleship in their heart language. Community that felt like family.
Week by week, David opened his home. Guitars were tuned. Prayers were whispered. Hearts began to heal.

That living room is now a movement.
Beresheet is the first Hebrew-speaking Ethiopian congregation in Israel. But more than that—it’s a spiritual home for anyone hungry for truth, healing, and belonging.
From Friday night worship to one-on-one mentoring, from brokenness to restoration—God is writing new beginnings here.
And the name says it all: Beresheet – In the beginning.
